You should treat insects on a lilac bush with very mild insecticides or a simple home remedy. The best remedy is soap and water. Add one teaspoon of mild dish soap to each 2 cups of water and spray the affected areas of the lilac. You should continue to spray twice a day until the insects are gone.

In most cases, insects in lilac bushes can be treated with a spray bottle filled with soapy water. In more severe cases, you may need to purchase some type of insecticide.

The ony way to succesfully do that is in the evening spray them with an insecticide. Make sure the sun is down when you do it.
