The first thing that can be done is to apply pressure to the nose. But this can be a serious symptom of a nasal fungus or tumor and the dog should be taken to the vet. If the nose is bleeding alot then it is unlikely that it will stop on its own.

You will want to very gently get the dog to sit still (on your lap is fine) and calm down. This will slow the heart rate and slow the bleeding. Gently use a rag to staunch the flow. If it doesn't stop within an hour call the vet. This could be a sign of canine leukemia.

Try to elevate the dog's head in the air. Speaking calmly and petting his head will help keep him calm while the blood clots in the nose.

If your dogs nose bleeds a lot you should see a vet as soon as possible. It may be a sign of something more serious.

If the dog's nose is bleeding because it's cracked and dry, try putting vaseline on the nose to keep the moisture in.

You get it to the vet right away. It is not normal for their noses to bleed and the vet will be able to find out why it is happening.
