Training a dachshund is pretty much the same as training a dog of any other breed. It's always a good idea to take a dog to an obedience class to get some of the general stuff down.

Dachsund's require lots of patience during the training process and an owner willing to be firm. They are a stubborn breed with a very independent streak and because of this training takes extra time. Training sessions should be kept short (no longer then 5 minutes at one time) and treat based training works quite well.

Training any dog involves repetition, patience and repetition. Many pet stores offer canine training courses that will help you train your dog.

The only way to truly train them is just to stick with it and it isn't going to happen overnight they are a bit of a bullhead about those things. The other thing is only try to teach them one thing at a time they will learn much faster for you.

Dachshunds are fairly easy to train because they are highly intelligent. Start out with small tricks such as sit and down. Once those are mastered move on to harder tricks.

The most typical problem you'll encounter with a dachshund is their natural digging instincts. To keep them from digging in your yard find a place to put sand, gravel, or another substance to dig in. Fill this area with treats and toys and then reward them for using this space. That's the only major problem I can think of now.

To train and dachsund, you must first do research on the particular breed. These types of dogs may require training different from that of any other dog. Additionally, precautions to be take as well as special accomodations needed for the breed and size of dog should be understood. Different breeds are in need of differing levels of training.
