First you need to find out how to get a license from your state. A lot of the time the license required you to have at least 2 years working experience, references, and 2-4 years schooling in accounting. Second, find out if you need insurance. It is always good to have insurance to back you up.

Starting any home-based business depends on two factors: being good at what you do, and interacting with the network of people you know. It's word of mouth that will get you business: "Sure, I know him/her. You can count on a good job. " Talk to everyone; pass out business cards. Deliver more than you're asked for. That will work.

Get a reliable financial software that will allow keeping many accounts (one per client). Then talk to business owners you know to take on that task for them.

First you would have to purchase a good software program for your computer so you can set up different accounts. You will need a lot of memory in your computer or have a server. Then you will need to go to local merchants and offer your services at a good price.

I am assuming you are trained in this. You need a really good software (I recommend Intuit Quickbooks, it is a JOY! ) You need to consult the IRS site for what is required to keep you on track. I would recommend a second phone line, and keeping your home worksite exclusive.
