How do I set the timing on a 1993 Mercedes?

A timing light. Open the timing case and check for the notches. It will show you dead center. Use the light and it will show you when you are at perfect timing. Make sure you mark the notches with a white marker of some sort so you can see where they are.

You'll need a hard start to check the electronics board. Pop your hood and use a screw driver to remove the circuit. Then plug in the hard start.
