The best way to ripen a tomato is to place it in a brown paper bag and keep it at room temperature. Methane released from the tomato will help it ripen if collected around it. I prefer a brown paper bag over plastic though because moisture will not collect in the paper bag.

You can ripen tomatoes by keeping them in wheat floor for 2-3 days. Do not keep the tomatoes in refrigerator if you want them ripen.

All fruits ripen when exposed to the gas ethylene. Assuming you do not have access to a cylinder of ethylene, you can produce it using a parafin burner or other combustion heater. The other option you have is to use bananas. Bananas naturally emit a lot of ethylene as they ripen, and typically ripen other fruits around them.
