Usually you cannot retrieve a file that has been saved over. However, if it was only a word document, it could be restored, but only with a professional's help. Seek a computer technician.

It's rather hard. However, you could try to restore your computer to an earlier date, if the first file was saved a day before or so. To do this, click Start button, Point to All Programs, Accessories, Systems tools and Click System Restore. Click Next and pick an earlier date...

I am sorry to say this is not possible in general. The new data is written over the same hard disk blocks/sectors the old data was; so there is no way to get these bytes back -- unless your application saves some undo/versioning information itself.

This is a tough situation. Unless you have purchased Data Recovery software, it may be next to impossible to recover the file.

Well if you want to retrieve it just go to the windows search and look for that fine. Otherwise open ms word and go to all previous documents and you will see it there.

Once a file has been overwritten the chance of fully recovering it are very slim. You could try to use a file recovery program to get it back but it probably won't recovery it. You may be able to recover a piece though if that help.
