This piece is often on top of the starter itself so it is best to find the location of the starter motor. After finding the motor look on top of the unit for a small circular unit which is the starter cylinder. After unbolting this unit replace it with a new unit.

The basic principle is rater easy but will vary from car to car. 1st step remove the plastic shroud of the steering column. Disconnect the wiring going to the ignition cylinder, and depending on the type of vehicle remove the cylinder. Reverse to replace.

You will need to remove the steering wheel and locking cam assembly inside. Then there will be an allen bolt to remove on the cylinder. You can now pull the cylinder out and replace it. Put the bolts and steering wheel back on.
