This would depend on what type of chevy you have. One that has bucket sits with a full console, the whole console will need to be replaced. One that has one full sit, just the armrest will need to be replaced. It is only a couple of bolts or a few screws either way.

For replacing the arm rest bring the armrest near the seat and rotate it in anti clockwise direction. When it comes in the right position it will come out. Keep the washer with you as it will be needed while putting the new armrest.

First you must tilt the seat forward. Then unhook the plastic at the rear and bottom of the seat. Push the upholstery under the back of the seat towards the front. Pull the upholstery up over the armrest very gently so as not ot tear it. Reach under the fabric and push the foam aside. Simply remove this clip.

This is actually a very simple task for the average do it yourself-er. Simply find the bolts or screws that attach the hinge to the armrest. Unscrew, and replace with new (or used) unit available at parts store or junkyard.

You have a Chevy with an armrest? This is truly rare. Finding a replacement is going to next to impossible. The best source for one is any taco stand employee. Don't haggle over price, throw in a six pack and the guy will happily install it.

There is clip that holds the armrest on from the inside. This Clip is similar to that of old window crank clip. We just need to separate bottom of back leather and then peel cover up to reach upto the clip. There are rubber rings also arond this clip and thus finally replace the armrest.
