Question by  Vernon (21)

How do I remove ball point ink stain from my dryer?

My husband left an ink pen in his shirt pocket, the pet busted in the dryer and is now everywhere.

Best shot cleaning would be a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. No toxic chemicals and a great track record for cleaning; read directions.

You can usually remove ink with rubbing alcohol, so I would try putting a little rubbing alcohol onto a damp cloth, and wiping the dryer down.

It can be removed with bleach and some old towels. Make a solution of bleach diluted with water suitable for cleaning. Soak some old rags or towels in the solution. Place them in the dryer and run it through a cycle. You can repeat if necessary. There are other methods, but many contain flammables you should avoid.

Try getting as much out as you can with warm-water, possibly a little-detergent/soap. Unfortunately, the only-solvents which are going to dissolve your-ball-point-ink-stain are organic-solvents (nail-polish-remover, ethyl/isopropyl/rubbing-alcohol, ...) which are highly-FLAMMABLE, possibly-EXPLOSIVE in your-dryer. After you try warm-water, you can try an organic-solvent (like ethyl/isopropyl/rubbing-alcohol ...) but ENSURE you clean it thoroughly with warm-water, & let it dry otherwise KA-BOOM!

The inside of your dryer is not porous, so it should be easy to remove a stain. Try wiping it with a wet cloth. If that does not work, try using a mild cleaner with a dry rag. After using a cleaner I recommend wiping the dryer drum with a fresh wet cloth.

Use rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs to get rid of the ink. The rubbing alcohol will dissolve the ink and you can wipe it up with a paper towel.

The first thing to try is acetone. Let the acetone cover a paper towel and put on gloves. Then wipe the ink and do it fast because it will evaporate quickly. If you do not have acetone you can try nail polish remover. Do not put the acetone directly on stain. Make sure you rinse with water.
