You may have to get a puller. But with a puller they are easy to remove by simply taking out the bolt in the center and putting a puller on the pulley to remove.

Put the emergency brake on. Remove the lug nuts and remove the wheel. Remove the plastic rivets that hold the splash guard in the wheel. Crankshaft bolt should be removed. Turn on the air compressor and make the bolt loose. Using pulley removal tool, tighten the bolts until pulley is removed.

You will need a specialized tool called a gear puller or crankshaft puller. You can rent these at autozone, pep boys, etc.

On a lot of vehicles the is a very tight tolerances that create a snug fit. For these you need a special type of tool call a puller. Basically it just a threaded rod that screw into the crank snout and has two arms that grab the pulley. Two bolts are turned to slowly slide the pulley off.

To remove the crankshaft you first must know in which way the pulley turns. The bolt will screw off the opposite way.
