I need new shoes for cross training, but I'm not sure how to know that my shoes are the best fit for my stride and pronation.

If you to a sporting good store with a large shoe section they will be able to help. Most big shoe stores have foot measures that determine the proper size and instep of your shoes. The store may employ someone who has knowledge in cross training and could be able to tell you what shoes you should buy.

Go to a shoe store and have them measured by a professional. They have the proper tools to do that. They would put your foot in a foot measuring tool and then tell you the size that is right for you. They will measure width as well as length. I hope this helps.

Try on the sneaker to make sure it does fit. That the heel does not go up and down and the arch fits snug.
