There are a couple of things that you can try. The first is to try planting some marigolds around the perimeter of your yard. Small animals detest the taste and often will not come back after a sample. You can also try putting up a perimeter fence that also goes 6-18" underground, to prevent burrowing animals from getting in.

Have fake grass (sawd?) on hand to replace divots. Try planting marigolds along the perimeter of the lawn as small animals hate the taste and won't come back once tasted.

I believe the only way to prevent animal holes would be to get rid of the animals. Try calling your local exterminator or a humane society to find out more.

You can dig a lot of holes and put in a fence. You need to put a mesh fencing around the area of your lawn and dig down at least six inches to eighteen inches. Once you do this you can begin to put in posts with mesh in between the posts.

You can begin by converting your lawn to full astroturf (an idea I mentioned in my last answer). The astroturn will discourage animals from burrowing in your yard and you can also install a windmill to give that exquisite miniature golf course ambiance. I would also install a golfball washer-- those are real nice.

The animals are making holes because they find your lawn safe for them. Ask the nursery what you can do to prevent this.
