An mp4 is a video file that is that cannot play on just any mp3 player. If you own an ipod or other mp3 player with a video screen, it is possible. For ipod, the video must be made with the correct mp4 codec. It also must have the proper screen resolution.

If your mp3 player is not mp4 compatible then you will have to convert them to mp3s. Some MP3 player software will do this automatically when you copy the mp4's to the player. In other cases you can easily convert the mp4 to an mp3 using free software available over the internet. Search for Mp4 to Mp3 converters.

MP4 files are videos. If your mp3 player isn't specifically designed to play video, you simply can't. If your mp3 player does play video, but won't play mp4 files, you'll have to find out what format of videos it can play, and then use a program to convert the mp4 file to a format that it can understand.
