The building department may have a plan showing the location of your tank. Otherwise, probe into the ground following the direction of waste pipes, taking care not to damage pipes. The tank is likely several feet below the surface. Or follow the noise of a plumbing snake.

I would get in touch with your local county heath department who should have plans of the location however if you mean where do I locate a new installation of a septic tank then the answer is still the local county health department for planning permission they will guide you through the project.
