How do I know what cello size to buy?

I am a beginner and am 16 years old.

The size needed depends on your height. The rule of thumb is that if you are taller than 5 feet, a full size cello (4/4) will be most comfortable. If you are from 4 1/2 feet to 5 feet than a 3/4 cello would be best and if you are 4-4 1/2 feet, than a 1/2 would be best.

It really depends on your hand size. By 16, almost anyone would be in a full size. Try the cello's out in the store and consider renting for a year before you buy.

It really depends on how tall you are and how much money you want to spend. If you are over five feet then the full sized cello should be good.

Cello's usually come in one universal size, so buy that, it doesn't matter how tall you are, only custom made models are smaller.
