I would suggest running, biking, squats, and such. You can increase the speed or weight. Also, you should continue doing these daily so you can see results sooner.
For an inexpensive workout, you can start with walking at a fast pace. You can bicycle, either outside or on a stationary bicycle.
To increase tone, you need to increase your daily movement. Stetch out, walk longer distances, always use the stairs, and get up from your desk every 45 minutes at least
buy a bicycle and start cycling every day for at least an hour with a short pause in that hour. You may as well start jogging.
