Look through architectural magazines to help you decide on the style of frame you want, as the choices are wide and varied. The important thing here is that your new frame matches the period of your home so that you enhance the architecture of your space. Then draw up your plans, measuring twice if you only want to cut once!

You first need to build a layout for the fireplace and here you determine the height of the unit off the floor then build a front wall with the rough opening of the fireplace and after building the frame, you build a floor and ceiling inside the unit where the units sits in.
