Contact a specialist in the area you need to schedule an appointment. Your doctor may be willing to recommend one.

While the internet is full of medical information and advise, do not attempt to diagnose yourself or choose a remedy without consulting a professional. Any primary care physcian can provide a second opinion or refer you to a specialist; depending on the situation. Choose a doctor not affliated with the medical group or hospital where you received your first diagnosis.

Remember, your files are yours, and you have every right to them. Choose the physician you want to consult and ask their procedures for having your records sent to them. Set an appointment, ask what the doctor's usual time is. Don't settle for 5-10 minutes. Let the office know ahead you are seeking another consultation. There should be no problem.

Check your insurance for coverage. Call the AMA and ask then for a name of a reputable doctor in the field that you need. Make an appointment.
