You can either address the fear directly by asking yourself why, specifically, are you afraid of committing to whatever it is you fear committing to, or you can try the more subtle approach of asking yourself why you should NOT be afraid of the commitment in question.

A good way to get over your fear of commitment is to sit down and reflect on all the good qualities of whatever you are considering commiting to, whether it is a new car or a marriage. You must tell yourself to think logically! Make a list of pros and cons to show yourself in black and white.

If you struggle with your fear you will never get over it. The best way to diminish the fear until complete disappearance is to ACCEPT it as it is, and don't fight or worry about it. Just take a step back and observe your fear exist and unfold.
