How do I get mold off of things?

Bleach will kill mold. Depending on the material you are using it on, the bleach can be used full strength, or it can be diluted with water. Be forewarned that the only way to prevent the mold from returning is to ensure that the article is kept dry. Moisture is the source of mold problems.

Using Clorox is ineffective, because it actually gives mold a food source. Mr. Clean or other caustic cleaner will work. It is the ONLY way to effectively remove mold. As with most cleaning products, Mr. Clean has a very strong chemical smell, so be sure to use it in a ventilated area and wear gloves!

A product I used for many different types of cleaning is called Sporiclean. It is presently undergoing a name change. It is promoted by a home improvement show. Any time the subject of mold comes up, this product is recommended. You mix with water for the cleaning strength you need.

There are several types of mold and where the mold may be but, the best way to remove mold is with bleach. To Prevent it from returning you must first find the source of the mold and where it orienting. Clean the entire area If the mold is in you home you may want to consider a dehumidifier.
