A Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) is a professional designation earned by financial planners and insurance agents. The designation requires successfully passing an exam after completing ten required college-level courses and acquiring extensive experience in the industry. CLUs are also charged with preserving the integrity of the designation by abiding a strict code of conduct and ethics.

If you have an interest in the insurance business than congratulation CLU just may be for you. First off for a designation you will need plenty of prior experience, we are talking about 3 years experience. Don't be completely scared off though because a grad or undergrad degree will be counted for one year of experience, two more to go.
