On vehicles that have electric control speed sensor, first you would scan the computer for trouble codes, and follow procedures for the code. If no codes are presented, you would first check to see if any fuses are blown, if no fuses are blown, you must ohm the sensor to see if it's in specs. If good replace gauge.

You can scan the computer for trouble codes, then follow the code procedures.Check for blown fuses if there is no codes. You may have to check the sensor that is located on the side of the transmission. Remove the sensor by releasing the tab.Pull the sensor out with a cresent wrench or a flat screw driver and replace with new.

The speed sensor looks like a plug sticking out the bottom of the transmission, which is located at the bottom or on either side of the transmission! Remove it by pressing the release tab on top of the plug and pull the connection apart! Remove the old sensor, with a cresent or open wrench!

Well the easiest solution is just to remove the old one and replace it. You might look around to see if there is a way to fix it but chances are it will mess up again later.
