How do I fix an upper heat shield in my car?

I have a Dodge Neon.

You can simply replace it or make something out of metal that will replace it. As the heat shield just needs to be made of material that will not burn and can be molded.

first remove the sheild by popping off all the plastic pegs that hold the shield into place. if you have no pegs or ones missing remove all. go to the parts store purchase a bag of new pegs line up sheild with the specific hole and tap in new pegs

You could just replace your heat shield for the cost of repairing it. A new shield should cost around 30 dollars. A mechanic would charge about $30 more for labor.

let the dealership look at the heat shield. the heat shield is a factory item. it needs to be replaced with the original oem part.
