Depending on where the noise is coming from it may be easy or hard to trouble shoot. Usually if a screw is undone it voids the warranty so becareful. Tip it upside down with and open the flap, shake slightly to see if something got lodged in the cd tray.

This is the best method I've used so far. Might want to shake more than slightly though. Also, take out the DVD like I did.  add a comment

you don't want to touch the inside of a DVD player, since it is very delicate and easily broken. You should either call the company, or have it replaced.

Clean it out with compressed air, debris may be the cause. If it is coming from bearings or gears, then it is more practical to replace the player.

If the problem is with your tv, turn the volume down. If it's making a grinding noise, check for sand or debris inside of the DVD player. You can also try shaking it, but that might cause more damage.
