Question by  RandiKaye (39)

How do I determine what kind of snake I have?

Is there a resource I can go to to focus on what type of snake I currently have as a pet.

Yes, there are resources online which could show you pictures of different kinds of snakes. If you go onto a search engine (Yahoo, Google) type in "types of snakes". There are many different possibilities.

Yes. First, start with Kingsnake. com. There are specific forums dedicated to every type of reptile and amphibian imaginable. Also, look to see if you have a local herpetological club near you. You can often find people with similar interests to talk with and learn from.

You most likely have a corn snake or a milk snake, as they are two of the most common captive snakes kept today. There are many resources that you can find by doing an internet search for "pet snakes" - most of these sites will have pictures for you to compare your snake to.
