If your dryer is not getting as warm as normal, or not heating at all it may be bad. I would consult with a local repair man and even ask if they will come to your home to check it for free if you agree to purchase parts from them.

Check if you hear or don't hear anything this could be because of this and should be very obvious that is doesn't work.

You will hear a clicking noise, from the ignitable mechanism. The dryer will still tumble, but you will notice that it won't be generating any heat.
