How do I deal with an alcoholic?

First off, I consider an alcoholic as someone who drinks alone. (not textbook) Convince friend of this and get them to drink with you or another smart friend and we have achieved a bond. Once that bond is there you can look out for your friend or cut the bond.

Although it is frustrating, sometimes there is really nothing you can do other than to let him or her hit rock bottom on their own and then be there to pick them up and stand by them when they realize they need help.

Not dealing with an alcoholic is the best way to deal with them. If the behavior doesn't directly affect you then not engaging will not give the attention that the addict seems to crave.
