You can desenitize a tooth by brushing your teeth with sensitive tooth paste on a regular basis or you can use baby orajel on your tooth. I would recommend the tooth paste for sensitive teeth.

Use toothpaste designed for sensitive teeth such as Sensodyne, and use a soft bristle tooth brush. Also make sure to floss regularly.

There are plenty of toothpastes out on the market today that help with sensitive teeth. Some actually will help build up enamel and cause the tooth to de-sensitize itself in a matter of time. Keep using this paste and your teeth should go back to being normal, strong, healthy teeth.

A tooth can be desensitized by various methods. Using a soft toothbrush with a desensitizing toothpaste is the first step. The brushing method should not be rigorous. Fluoride containing mouthwash, gels and varnish are sometimes used. Avoid extreme hot and cold foods. Avoid highly acidic foods and citrus fruits. Aerated drinks should be taken with a straw rather than directly drinking from glasses.
