Take the clippers and attach the right sized tip and then just go against the grain of hair growth so that the hair is even and not choppy. Also ensure that you use the clippers in the right way or it might cut the hair too short or too long.

Dachshunds shed and do not need haircuts. If you have a long-haired Dachshund, take it to the groomer for appropriate care.

I am assuming that you have a long haired dachshund, you should just trim the long hair with scissors to keep the shape of the cut. If you try and use clippers you will not have the drape of the dogs hair which is essentially what makes it different from the short haired variety.

Begin by spraying your dog with a water/conditioner mix and then gently brushing your dogs hair. Trim the hair to the desired length. Depending on your dogs temperament you may need someone to help you distract the dog while you cut its hair.
