You can attempt to brush your Chihuahua's teeth regularly with a dog toothbrush and special toothpaste preparation. Given that most any dog will resist, you will likely have to talk to your veterinarian about dental hygiene. For a proper teeth cleaning, most dogs (and cats, too) need to be anesthetized.

You can brush his teeth just as you would your own, by making tiny circles on his teeth with a special dog brush and canine toothpaste. Annual cleaning/scraping will be performed by a vet.

To clean Chihuahua's teeth go to the store and get a toddler size toothbrush. You can mix up your own toothpaste by using baking soda and water. Dip the toothbrush into the paste and lightly scrub while holding his mouth open. He will have clean teeth when you are done.

One should brush their dog's teeth with a canine approved tooth cleaner and tooth brush. With regular checkups the vet will examine the teeth and check for tartar. Sometimes a dental cleaning at the vet's office is needed for excess tartar.

You would probably be best to get one of those brushes that you put over your index finger. Gently situate the dog on your lap where they're facing away from you. Using baking soda, gently brush the teeth. I suggest starting in the back so you can get the biting out of the way! :) Remember to stay gentle.

There is also a spray type of teeth cleaner. You can spray that on once a day for every 2 days. You can usually find that in petco or petsmart(if you live in the U.S).

Depends on how clean/dirty they are. If you just need to maintain them, brush the teeth with a paste especially for dogs a minimum of twice a week. Dental chews, raw carrots and soup bones work well. If the dog has tartar build up, he'll have to go to the vet for a professional cleaning.
