You can only claim your elderly mother as a dependent if you pay more than 50 percent of her expenses. If you pay less than half, she is not your dependent for tax reasons.
you mark her as a dependent in the line that says "how many dependents can you claim? "
Just look for the words "claim dependents" and you cannot go wrong.
