How do I change a default hard drive?

By say "default hard drive" you probably mean the hard drive that your operating system is installed on. The best way to change this is to perform a reformat of the computer. During the installation process of your operating system you will be given the option of which hard drive to use.

To change the priority of your drive you need to move the jumper on the drives around. Set the jumper to master on the drive you want to be the default one. Then set the other to slave. In some instances you may need to change some bios settings.

Well you should reformat the hard drive. just right click the hard drive you want to change and choose format. Enter the necessary information and press format. Be careful to back up all your important data before doing this

Normally this can be changed in the BIOS (del key on boot for most machines. ) If yours does not have this option, you may have to swap the cables.

you will have to open it, and you will see that it has two cables connected to it. the smaller one is the power, and the wide one is the transfer cable. just replace that hard drive with your new hard drive, and make sure you use the same transfer cable.

You have to open up the computer and take the tables connected to the current default hard drive, and switch them with the new one.

Remove the side panel of the computer case, remove the screws connecting it to the inner case, disconnect both the data and power cable, and then remove.

In a Windows computer to change the default drive you must go into the drive control panel and select the drive you wish to have as your default drive, in a Mac you go to system preferences and choose your default drive.
