It is personal preference, but if you want to make sure you don't have other people's germs & other irritants, you probably should wash them first after purchasing them.

You should always read the care instructions on the inside tag on garment care. No, they do not wash clothes that have been tried on. It is wise to wash clothing before wearing. New clothes are always covered in dust from the manufacturing process. The gentle cycle on your washer should do fine. Press shirt according to directions.

Stores never clean clothes after people have been touching them or trying them on, so you must wash your new shirt before wearing it, following the directions on the care tag.

New shirts are not washed once they enter a store. If there is a printed logo on the front, turn the shirt inside-out and follow the instuctions on the tag.
