Columnar Aspens are very tough, fast growing and low care trees. They require little fertilizer and minimal water once established. In colder areas, they may be prone to splitting from ice and snow loads, so some remedial pruning may be indicated in spring.

Just like you would for any other tree, moderate sun and water and it also needs shade. Aspen do very well in cold climate as well.
