To call people from your laptop computer you must have an active high speed internet connection and use a phone company like Skype, Google's Gmail also has a phone capability as well and you must have a microphone or headset with microphone.

First purchase some type of microphone or headset compatible with your computer. Then download a voice over ip program like Skype. To make free calls to another computer both must have the program running. It will cost money to make calls actual phone lines though.
