This is essentially an eviction for non-payment of rent. The owner/landlord has gone to court with evidence to show cause that you be removed from the property. The only possible remedy is to pay the arrears, which you will be sued for in any event, but even then the owner is not obliged to withdraw the eviction.

Unlawful detainer is hard to resolve in Los Angeles. Episode 4 of the Soprano television series is a great example of how it gets handled in Newark, New Jersey. If you are in Chicago, Illinois , the methods are a little more subtle but the results are the same. Get a change of venue to either of these two locales.
