AC Units greatly differ by brand. Since there are some many types of brands I would insist that you refer to your particular AC User Manual. They are quite useful.

Complete the heat load calculation according to the ACCA Manual J. Complete duct design according to the ACCA Manual D. Consult your local construction codes and an electrical contractor to confirm the proper installation or hire a qualified contractor to complete these tasks for you. An incorrect installation can not only be dangerous but extremely costly in utilities.
