Estrogens (estradiol, estraone, & estriol) are produced by: the female-ovaries, placenta (if/when pregnant), & male-testes. Estrogens impact/regulate menstrual-cycles & pregnancy. Miscarriages can be caused by too-high or too-low estrogen-levels.

The level of hormones in a woman's system at different times highly relate to how her body will react to different things like pregnancies. Estrogen and Progesterone are hormones used in birth control pills in order to suppress pregnancy, it could definitely be possible that estrogen could induce miscarriages, or add to the likelihood of a woman having one.
