Trace the outline of your foot onto a piece of paper. Measure the distance between the two widest points on the tracing and reduce measurement by 5 mm.

B is considered to be a regular width. A is narrow, W is wide. You can check on the width of your shoe in the tongue. Usually it will list the size (a number) and the width (a letter)

You can determine the width you need by stepping on the measuring device at the shoe store. If you have a shoe and don't know the width of it, assume it is a medium until you try it on. Some manufacturers make shoes sized by width, and some do not.

I determine the width of my shoe by what fits me. If I try on a shoe that feels too narrow I then know that I need a wide width
