How difficult is it to change the alternator in a Nissan?

I have a Sentra. I'd like to do the work myself.

Alternator swaps are not that difficult on most cars, including your Nissan, as long as you have the right tools necessary to remove the belts that connect the alternator to the rest of your system.

Depends on the alternator, and the belt setup. The general procedure is to remove or slacken the belt, unbolt the alternator, disconnect the wires, then re-assemble with the new alternator. 3-belt setups are harder than serpentine belts. Also, it's easier on rear-wheel drive cars than front-wheel drive.

Typically the process is simple. Just loosen the belt, removes some wires, and unbolt it. The hardest part is usually just getting to the thing to work on it.
