How did Seattle Slew become a Triple Crown Winner?

Aren't all 3 races very different?

That's why there are so few Triple Crown winners. It is an extremely difficult feat to accomplish; the American Triple Crown races are the hardest in the world for a racehorse to win. Many say that out of the three races, the last one, the Belmont Stakes, is the hardest.

The differences are minor- the difficulty is the time frame and locations. Horses were run back to back (2 weeks apart), in different locations, (KY, MD, NY). Slew was able to adapt to travel, had tremendous heart, was incredibly sound, and *wanted* to win.
