How can you tell if you're looking at a genuine Ming vase?

Someone is offering me a deal that looks too good to be true.

The only way to know for sure is to have it appraised because the fakes can be very convincing. Only someone properly trained can tell one way or another. It if sounds to good to be true, it probably is.

It is difficult because it depends on the glaze texture, the motifs, and the colors of the glaze used. Look for the reign mark on the bottom of the vessel.

It is difficult for someone without a high level of training and experience to discern between a genuine Ming vase and one of the many excellent quality reproductions available. When considering purchasing a Ming vase, one would be wise to leave authentication to an expert in the subject.
