How can you tell if it's your motherboard or your cpu is bad?

You check , your CPU , wether it's rebooting. every cpu has a fan on top, it might have stopped. Motheboard , check by unplugging the powercord or adaptor,if working

its simple. cpu is just a box or controlling unit. it depends upon the mother board or the processor. cpu only does what we give command and in the speed of processor. motherboard is the main controller of cpu so motherboard is only the bad not cpu as cpu depends on motherboard

Without expensive kit, the only way to know is to test with known good parts. For safety, you would preferably test the CPU in a known good motherboard first.

I have a similar issue, one way is to check CPU is to remove the heatsink and turn pc on for 2 seconds, no longer than 5 seconds, and place your finger on top of the cpu when it comes on, you should feel it getting warmer. Otherwise it's motherboard

I should tell my mother board is bad when it has circuit scratches / broken. i tell my cpu is bad, when my cpu devices are in bad condition / totally suffered.

If the computer fails to "POST" by showing a bios options screen then the motherboard is bad. If it makes it to post but goes no further then the cpu is at fault. Usually an error code will be displayed or a series of beeps emitted from the board.
