How can you get rid of a water based wood stain?

My refrigerator leaked water and stained my wood floors. Well I am redoing the kitchen and want to move the fridge, but the stain looks bad.

If the water stain isn't deep, buff the finish gently with a soft cloth and toothpaste or car polish. If the water stain is deep, first remove the old finish/wax. Then use oxalic acid to remove the stain. After drying, simply re-stain or seal it to match the surrounding floor.

Often putting water cups on the coffee table causes one of these water stains. The best thing to do is to immediately wipe the excess water. Then, use a little furniture polish and a soft cloth, go along the grain of the wood to buff out the stain.
