While hunting dogs do have good instincts, they must be trained by someone with experience. Praising the dog for position actions and quickly correctly negative behavior is key. Dogs do not come "ready to hunt. " A good hunting dog requires a great investment of time and patience, which will be rewarded many times over.

Teach the dog the command quiet when you are at home, and practice it a lot in increasingly distracting situations. Then use the command while hunting with him.

This issue takes more room than I have here. You should consult your breeder for training info, look for good books that are specific to training your hunting breed, and work with other owners- there are often field events for training dogs that you may well enjoy.

'No bark' collars seem to work for most breeds and get quick results. They can be purchased or rented for short term use.
