Those vans usually had a poor sound system to start with...the simplest and cheapest way to upgrade would be to buy an aftermarket woofer and tweeter, as well as a dash faceplate, and simply start from scratch. Those vans have plenty of room in which to install new, higher quality speakers.

The simplest option would be to go to a qualified car audio shop. They will be able to install anything from a new head unit up to a full stereo system. A good shop will work within your budget to make the kind of setup you are looking for. Otherwise research online to see if you can upgrade it yourself.
