You can trap a fox by contacting your local vet or animal control office and asking for a heart trap that will not kill the animal but trap it till you can let it go elsewhere.

You should contact your local animal control and they can give you the "legal" ways to capture it. Cages are used, but foxes do not like going into them. This appears to be a difficult task. You will probably have more luck keeping them away than catching one.

Call the city you live in and have the animal warden set a trap. They will take the fox back where it belongs after catching it.

Fox can be trapped using bait and a live trap. Do you intend to keep the fox alive or will it be for the pelt? Don't damage the pelt.

To live trap a fox use a Havahart which is a wire cage with open ends. Bait the trap with a food such as canned cat food or raw chicken. Set the trap in an area the fox has been seen. Putting the trap along a path in the shrubbery or against a building may work.

Foxes are most active at night so you would need to get a wooden box with the trap door and put some vegetables in it to lure him in.

You need to buy a fox trap and some fox attractant to trap the fox. It shouldn't be to difficult once you do this. If you trap the fox and it is still alive call your local animal control department to ask how to get it back to its natural woods habitat away from people.

I wouldn't recommend trying to trap it yourself. You should be able to find an wild animal rescue group listed in your phone book. Almost all of them will come out and do a capture and release which means they will relocate the fox to a safe place.

Yes, it's hard to do! Don't do it by yourself. There are wildlife trappers that are trained and certified to trap animals such as fox, skunks, and raccoons. It is too dangerous to try to trap a wild animal unless you have experience and training.
