Real ivory is heavier than plastic or synthetic. It yellows with age, put saliva on your finger wipe it if yellow comes off it's fake. Take a pin heat it until the tip is red, then stick it in an inconspicuous place ivory it won't penetrate on real ivory.

The weight of real ivory is kind of dense and compact. It is smoother than its bone imitations and creamy white. heat up a very thin piece of metal preferably something that can bore a tiny hole, if it is able to penetrate, your ivory is not really ivory but plastic or some other material.

A simple at home test is to heat a needle and pierce the object. If the object is plastic it will melt, if it's Ivory it will not.
