How can I stop Windows Live Messenger from starting up on its own?

I need to free up some memory.

Sign in to it. Then you click on the down arrow that lets you select online and select options. Then click on the general tab then uncheck the box beside automatically run Windows Live Messenger when I log on to Windows. Then click the accept button.

When the messenger panel opens next time don't log-in, simply click on the 'tools' tab then select 'options'. Next select 'sign-in' from the side menu and there should be 3 tick boxes. Now unselect the 'Automtically run windows live messenger when i log onto windows' click apply then ok

Reinstall it and during the setup you should see the option to "run windows Live Messenger on startup" check box make sure its unchecked
